Dulas glamping is set on a working farm Nr Machynlleth in North Mid-Wales and has all the peace and tranquillity needed for a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Dulas is the perfect location for some dark skies stargazing while sitting out by the firepit surrounded by farmland and countryside.

Hafan Y Mynnydd (The Mountain Haven)

Our accessible spacious double shepherds hut sleeping upto 5 is open all year round. Our 2 unique sensory pods are a haven for young people who benefit from a calm space to regulate and when used with our Spectrum pack and the additional sensory equipment at Dulas,  are perfect for providing much needed sensory feedback. There is also a comfy kingsize, and single bed within the sleeping area meaning that larger families can also enjoy glamping at Hafan Y Mynnydd!

The Kitchen area is fully equipped with running water, induction hob, microwave, adjustable work bench, and all the pots, pans, crockery, and cutlery that you would expect from a self catering holiday home. Dulas also offers filtered mountain spring water straight from the tap!

2 riser recliners sit in front of large sliding doors that lead to a wooden deck which looks over stunning mountain views. With a 6ft high fenced, secure garden area set within the 16 acre field in front of the shepherd hut, your doggy family members will also love exploring Dulas, and children have an open space to run around while still being close to the hut.

There is a large, walk in shower room which includes a wash/dry toilet and sink with waterfall taps. Complimentary guest toiletries are also included.

Due to its location on a working farm, families are welcome to cuddle and feed lambs during certain times of the year. Meet the farm pigs who live a short walk from the hut.

Included in your stay

Free Wifi, A huge welcome pack which includes bread, local fresh eggs, butter, tea, coffee, fresh milk, yogurts, jams and marmalade, and wine! Bedding and Linen, towels, guest toiletries, crockery, cutlery and utensils, sensory and children’s toys. Our Spectrum Pack is also available for families to use and includes a range of handheld sensory toys, blackout blind, light toys and visual resources.

We understand that preparing an autistic person for a holiday can sometimes be challenging. At Spectrum Holidays we are always looking for ways to make this process easier. We design bespoke, personalised visual stories and countdown calendars for every person that would benefit from additional preparation for their holiday.

Inside the Spectrum Pack you will also find a set of visuals to help support you while on holiday, there is also a “now, next, later” travel keyring to take out and about with you as you visit the local area.

Local Amenities and the Local Area

Shops:

Machynlleth – Machynlleth is a rural market town, in the beautiful UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere. There are plenty of shops, antique stores and cafe’s. You will also find a well stocked Co-op,as well as a Spar which includes a Greggs bakery.

Places to visit:

MOMA Machynlleth – An intimate museum of modern art set in a victorian townhouse and former Wesleyan chapel.

The Centre For Alternative Technology (CAT) – CAT is a world renowned eco centre that researches and supports greener ways of living. “Discover a hidden world, packed full of working examples of renewable energy, beautiful organic gardens, experimental green buildings, and sustainably managed woodland habitats” Ride the water balanced cliff railway which is one if the steepest railways in the world! Visits can be pre booked online.

Dyfi Spray Project Machynlleth – Enjoy a sustainable wildlife watching experience in the heart of the beautiful Dyfi Valley. There is cafe onsite serving a range of food made with local sustainable ingredients

Corris Craft Centre and Mine Explorer’s – Pop on your hard hat and take part in a fascinating tour if an abandoned slate mine or take a boat trip through the underground maze while listening to the tales from long ago in King Arthurs Labyrinth. Corris Craft centre has something for everyone and is a great place for a family day out!

Things You May Need to Know

Dulas Glamping in located in a rural working farm where sheep and pigs are kept. You may hear the farm animals during the day and night (we could not hear them from inside the pod overnight)

The farm buildings that are off limits to guests and the owners live at the end of the lane that leads up from the Shepard’s hut. There may also be hay bales stored close to the shepherds hut.

The bottom sleeping pod has padding around the top part of the pod and there are plus/sockets inside the pods.

As Hafan Y Mynnydd is also an accessible holiday home, there are visible wires that are used to power the beds. The shepherds hut has blackout curtains to separate the different area of the hut which work really well over night. There are no internal doors with the exception of the sliding bathroom door.

The sliding patio doors use a key lock and there is a second door uses a thumb turner lock from the inside.

Farm vehicles may be working in the fields around the hut at certain times of the year

The shepherds hut is open plan and storage in the kitchen area includes floor trolleys which means that cutlery, utensils, and cooking instruments are within easy reach

Those with Hyperosmia, or are smell sensitive should be aware of the farm location and the smells that go along with that. Septic tanks are used at Dulas.

How to book/prices

High season 

Easter/1st April to 2nd September, and 21st December to 2nd Jan – £145 per night based on 3 people 15% discount on breaks of 5 nights or more

Low season: 

2nd September to Easter/ March 31st (excl Christmas and new year) – £115 per night based on 3 people. 15% discount on breaks of 5 nights or more.

Additional Information

Additional guests £10 per person per night and under 2’s free. 

Guests who bring their own bed linen receive £10 per night discount
